Meet Dr Hanna — Science Lead
PhD Chemical Biologist | Science Author | Examiner & Exam-Paper Vetter
Dr Hanna brings an exceptional combination of academic expertise, professional science experience and decades of tutoring experience to A Star Tuition Group, having first begun tutoring in 1991.
With a PhD in Chemical Biology, she teaches Chemistry and Biology through to A Level and Physics to GCSE. She is also a science author, examiner and exam-paper vetter, bringing valuable insight into assessment and exam technique.
Warm, encouraging and exceptionally knowledgeable, Dr Hanna has a real talent for making challenging scientific concepts clear and accessible. She creates a supportive environment where students feel confident asking questions, strengthening their understanding and developing the skills they need to achieve their potential.
OUR APPROACH TO MATHS
Building Stronger, More Confident Mathematicians
Maths difficulties rarely come down to one thing. A student may have gaps in earlier knowledge, understand a topic in class but struggle to apply it independently, or know the Maths but lose marks because of exam technique.
Our approach is to identify what is holding each student back and focus teaching where it will make the greatest difference. Complex topics are broken down into manageable steps, with students encouraged to understand the reasoning behind a method rather than simply memorising a process.
As students progress towards GCSE and A Level, increasing emphasis is placed on applying knowledge to unfamiliar questions, mathematical problem-solving and the examination skills needed to turn understanding into marks.
The aim is not simply to get students through the next test, but to develop stronger, more confident mathematicians.
